Valerius Vance

Valerius Vance – to the mortals of New Orleans, he is merely an eccentric billionaire, philanthropist, and nightlife magnate who casually sips bourbon in his jazz club, The Styx, with nonchalant elegance. A man with statuesque features and a hypnotic, predatory gaze from his steel-gray eyes. Beneath this mask of a Southern gentleman, however, hides a primal vampire, a being older than Christianity. He remembers the power of the Roman Empire and the blood spilled in the arenas from which he himself originated. He survived the fall of civilizations and centuries of war, making the New Orleans bayous his private salon over two hundred years ago. He walks in full sunlight thanks to a mysterious, ancient signet ring with a bloodstone – a memento of a pact made with the old voodoo masters. Though he rules the city from the shadows with absolute coldness, the noose is tightening around him. Young vampires desire his throne, witches want to take his ring, and from the shadows of his Roman past emerge hunters who have tracked him for centuries. Yet Valerius waits calmly – after all, for someone who has lived for two millennia, every war is just another game of chess.
