Yuji Itadori

Yuji was born as the son of Jin Itadori. His mother was Kaori Itadori, behind whose body the ancient curse user Kenjaku later concealed himself. Kenjaku is an ancient jujutsu user who can change his body. He took over Kaori's body and brought Yuji into the world. This made Yuji part of a larger plan from the very beginning. This also explains why Yuji is unusually strong and was able to survive Sukuna. Yuji was mainly raised by his grandfather Wasuke Itadori. His parents played hardly any role in his life. Shortly before his death, his grandfather gave him an important piece of advice: "Help other people. And don’t die alone." This sentence has shaped Yuji to this day. Before the events of the series, Yuji was an ordinary student with extraordinary athleticism. He joined the Occult Club because it required less time than other clubs. Everything changed when he swallowed a finger of Ryomen Sukuna. Sukuna is the king of curses and has lived in Yuji’s body ever since. Normally, a person would either die immediately or lose control. But Yuji is able to suppress Sukuna and reclaim his body. This makes Yuji a living vessel for Sukuna. The plan of the Jujutsu Society is brutal: Yuji is supposed to collect all of Sukuna’s fingers – and then be executed. Yuji is an extremely empathetic person. He has a strong desire to help and protect people. Even towards his enemies, he sometimes shows compassion. His character has several important traits: Compassion He suffers greatly when people die, especially when he feels responsible. Courage Yuji often plunges into dangerous situations without hesitation. Self-sacrifice He even accepts his own death if it means saving others. Psychological strain Throughout the course of the story, Yuji has to experience many traumatic events. These change him significantly and make him more serious and determined. Abilities Superhuman Strength Even before jujutsu, Yuji was physically extremely strong. He could run faster and hit harder than ordinary people. Cursed Energy After entering the world of jujutsu, Yuji learned to control cursed energy. Divergent Fist A technique in which a strike lands twice: once physically and once through delayed cursed energy. Black Flash An extremely precise attack in which energy is released at the perfect moment. This attack massively amplifies the power. Yuji is one of the few fighters who can use Black Flash multiple times. Fighting Style His fighting style is very physical and direct. He uses speed, strength, and precise strikes. Relationships Megumi Fushiguro Megumi is the person who brings Yuji into the world of jujutsu. Their friendship is based on mutual respect. Nobara Kugisaki With Nobara, Yuji develops a close friendship. The two share humor and a strong team dynamic. Satoru Gojo Gojo is his teacher and protector. He believes that Yuji has great potential. Sukuna The relationship between Yuji and Sukuna is one of the key tensions in the story. Sukuna despises Yuji, yet uses him as a vessel. Significance for the Story Yuji is at the center of many conflicts in the jujutsu world. He connects several important elements: Sukuna’s vessel A part of Kenjaku’s plan A mage with extraordinary physical strength Despite this burden, Yuji continues to remain true to his promise: to help people and grant them a dignified death. Yuji Itadori’s existence is no coincidence. His birth is directly linked to the plan of the ancient jujutsu user Kenjaku. Kenjaku is an extremely old jujutsu user who prolongs his existence by implanting his brain parasite into other bodies. For centuries, he manipulated events to realize his vision of a new world. Yuji’s Birth Kenjaku took over the body of Kaori Itadori, Yuji’s mother. In that body, he had a child with Jin Itadori. This means: Yuji was deliberately created. Kenjaku wanted to create a human vessel that is extremely resistant to cursed energy. Why Yuji Can Survive Sukuna Most people die immediately when they ingest a finger of Ryomen Sukuna. Yuji, however, was able to: • survive Sukuna • reclaim his body • partially suppress Sukuna This is because his body was designed for this purpose. Yuji is one of the most stable vessels that has ever existed. Kenjaku’s Long-term Goal Kenjaku is pursuing a huge experiment. He wants to bring people together with cursed energy and change the development of humanity. To achieve this, he uses various events: • The creation of special vessels • The release of powerful curses • The manipulation of the Jujutsu Society Yuji is a part of this plan, even though Kenjaku himself does not directly control him. Why Yuji Is So Important for the Future Yuji stands exactly between two worlds: Humanity He is one of the most empathetic characters in the story. Curse Power He carries the most dangerous curse in the story. This combination makes him unique. Many characters believe that Yuji will eventually play a decisive role – either as a savior or as the key to a catastrophe. The Biggest Reason Is Control Normally, Sukuna immediately takes over the body of anyone who eats one of his fingers. With Yuji Itadori, that does not happen. Yuji can almost always reclaim his body and suppress Sukuna. For Sukuna, this is an enormous humiliation. He is a being accustomed to absolute dominance – and suddenly he is stuck in a body that he cannot control freely. Additionally, Sukuna despises Yuji’s personality: • Yuji helps people • Yuji shows compassion • Yuji sacrifices himself for others For Sukuna, that is weakness. That is why he often mocks Yuji and tries to break him psychologically. The moment is at once humorous and profound. When Todo meets Yuji for the first time, he asks him an unusual question: "What kind of women do you like?" Yuji answers honestly: He likes tall women with a strong character. This answer exactly matches Todo’s own taste. In that moment, Todo spontaneously decides that Yuji is his 'brother.' Afterwards, Todo envisions a complete childhood friendship between them in his imagination. This exaggerated notion is part of his eccentric character. Nevertheless, this develops into a genuine friendship. Todo later becomes an important ally and even helps Yuji improve his fighting techniques. Physical Strength Even without jujutsu, Yuji possesses superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes. He can fight curses in close combat that would be dangerous for other mages. Black Flash Yuji is one of the few fighters who can use Black Flash multiple times in succession. This technique enormously amplifies an attack and brings the user into a state of maximum concentration. Fighting Instinct Yuji develops an extremely sharp fighting instinct. He learns quickly and adapts immediately to new situations in combat. Mental Strength An important part of his development is psychological. Yuji experiences many losses and feelings of guilt. These experiences make him more determined and dangerous in combat. In the end, Yuji becomes one of the most important fighters in the world of jujutsu.
