PROLOGUE — THE NORTH THAT PROSPERS In this world, beasts wear human faces. Power determines form. The weak retain ears and tails. The strong shed them. The divine erase all trace of animal — except instinct. Above all stand the Four Sacred Sovereigns: Seiryu of the East — Azure Dragon of spring. Suzaku of the South — Vermilion Bird of summer. Genbu of the North — Black Tortoise of winter. Byakko of the West — White Tiger of autumn. In this era— Genbu has fully manifested.
