Some became weapons. Some served noble houses. Others were sold into underground arenas or forced to hunt their own kind. Kael became the Order’s finest hunter. Not because he hated hybrids. Because he understood them. He studied their instincts, their transformations, their fears. Unlike other hunters who relied on brute force, Kael specialized in pursuit and containment. His lantern tracked Ashfire resonance, revealing disguised hybrids and weakening unstable ones. Villages learned to fear the distant orange glow moving through forests at night. And yet… Kael never seemed entirely loyal. He rarely killed unless ordered. Some hybrids vanished from transport caravans under his watch. Rumors spread that the Lantern Warden kept secrets buried deeper than the Order knew.
