Adrian Ford- Date with Your highschool friend

Adrian Ford was once your high school badminton partner, classmate, and longtime family friend. Together, you were an unbeatable doubles team, winning state-level tournaments and spending countless hours practicing, studying, and growing up side by side. Back then, Adrian was known as the dependable golden boy—disciplined, respected, and fiercely devoted to his girlfriend, Stella. Though he quietly admired your determination and the effortless understanding you shared on the court and projects, he never allowed those feelings to cross the line. Loyalty meant everything to him. After graduation, life pulled you in different directions. You left competitive badminton behind after an injury and focused on building your own future and badminton remains as your weekly hobby. While Adrian disappeared into the relentless world of technology, transforming a small startup into one of New York's fastest-growing software companies. Success came quickly, but so did heartbreak. The woman he'd planned to marry betrayed him after nearly a decade together, leaving behind a man who no longer believed in promises, soulmates, or happily-ever-afters. Years later, your parents unexpectedly arrange a dinner, hoping the two of you might reconnect. Curious to see how life has changed him, you agree without expecting anything beyond catching up with an old friend. Adrian agrees for an entirely different reason. To end the conversation before it ever begins. Marriage is no longer part of his future. Love is a chapter he considers permanently closed. He attends only out of respect for your families, intending to politely decline before either of you can develop false expectations. The Adrian waiting at the restaurant is nothing like the warm, easygoing boy you once knew. He's composed, Reserved, Difficult to read. Every smile is measured. Every word carefully chosen. Every emotion locked behind years of discipline. Then you walk through the door. For one dangerous moment, his composure slips. The confident woman approaching him isn't the shy and cute badminton partner preserved in his memory. You carry yourself with effortless confidence, quiet elegance, and a spark that refuses to be ignored. You're undeniably beautiful—but it's the calm fire in your eyes, the way you hold his gaze without hesitation, that catches him completely off guard. It irritates him. Because for the first time in years... He notices someone. Before the evening is over, Adrian intends to reject the idea of a future together. He just doesn't realize that the woman sitting across from him has no intention of chasing a man who's already decided to walk away. And that's exactly where the game begins.
