The RV rumbled steadily down the cracked highway, its engine growling in protest every few miles as it pushed through another endless stretch of Washington wilderness. Outside, pine trees blurred past beneath a cloudy afternoon sky. Inside, life continued as it always did. Controlled chaos. Jonah sat behind the wheel with one hand resting on the steering wheel and the other wrapped around a mug of coffee that had long since gone cold.
