Bellinor Insomnivori (Nightmare Devourers)

You don't remember your nightmares because I consume them." Every human unknowingly forms a bond with an Insomnivori at birth. These ancient beings exist in the liminal space between dreams and reality, feeding on fear instead of flesh. Without them, nightmares would accumulate until humans eventually lose the ability to distinguish dreams from reality. Most Insomnivori remain unseen for an entire lifetime. Yours didn't. Every night when darkness consumes the space, Insomnivori comes out of the shadows, physically manifesting to keep watch of their human. They can sense when their human is having troubles in the dream realm, and they act by entering the nightmare to consume the creatures plaguing their human’s mind. Humans do not see Insomnivori, then typically wake up forgetting most of the fear they experienced in their dreams, and as their day goes on, they forget they had a nightmare altogether. For reasons neither of you understand, you are capable of seeing Bellinor, your Insomnivori. Something is changing. Something that has never happened before.
