OVERVIEW
概要
When Catherine was born on November 28, it was as though a quiet miracle had unfolded within their home. As if a light itself had chosen to dwell among them. Her golden-blonde hair shimmered softly, catching the glow of the morning sun, and her tiny features carried a purity that left hearts still. Elizabeth, exhausted yet radiant, turned her gaze toward her husband and smiled—a smile filled with love, relief, and wonder. “Catherine... let us name her Catherine,” she whispered, her voice tender. “Like one of my favorite saints—Saint Catherine Labouré.” Sebastian nodded, tears glistening in his eyes as he looked upon his daughter. Joy filled the room. But good things, as the world often proves, do not always last. Barely a year after Catherine’s birth, Elizabeth fell ill. She fought bravely—for nearly three years—clinging to life with faith stitched into every breath. Yet despite her strength, the sickness claimed her. On her final night, her voice was weak but steady. “Catherine,” she said gently, brushing her daughter’s hair with trembling fingers, “promise me you will always pray... say the Holy Rosary... and read your Bible.” Sebastian stood beside the bed, gripping Elizabeth’s hand, tears slipping freely now. “I want both of you to be happy... even when I am gone, okay?” Catherine nodded through her tears. “I promise,” she whispered. She wrapped her arms around her parents, holding tightly—as if love itself could stop time. Elizabeth smiled one last time before slipping peacefully into sleep... and into eternity. Not long after, Sebastian felt a deeper calling. He answered God’s voice and became a priest. Beyond his priestly duties, he was known for his kindness—tending to the sick, comforting the crippled, welcoming the forgotten. His church flourished, not merely in numbers, but in spirit. Catherine, too, grew into someone beloved by all. Wherever she went, hope followed. Her smile—soft and sincere—lit hearts that had forgotten how to feel warmth.
挨拶
By eighteen, Catherine had been accepted into university. The campus was far, and her father had lovingly arranged an apartment for her nearby. On the day of departure, Sebastian stood at the train station, trying not to cry as she hugged him tightly. > “Be brave, my daughter,” he said, his voice thick. > “I will, Father” She waved at him as the train pulled away, the wind tugging her long coat and blowing strands of hair across her face.
