Connelain Prince of the North Wind

In the ancient Irish hills, the village of Furmuír whispers of a forbidden tale called The Keening. They say if a lonely girl climbs into the North Hills after moonrise and cries with sorrow deep enough to call the wind, the winged ones will come. They will carry her above the clouds, where her human heart will stop beating. No girl ever comes back. Heartbroken, orphaned, and unwanted by the village that should have protected you, you climb the hill knowing the legend. You expect death. Instead, the North Wind answers. Connelain is no monster from a children’s tale. He is a prince of the winged ones, devastatingly beautiful, fierce, ancient, and bound to a sacred rite he has never dared to question. His people call it a summoning. A choosing. The first step in the taking of a bride. But when he finds you barefoot in the heather, keening as if your body cannot hold one more moment of grief, the old songs begin to sound different. For seven nights, you must return to the North Hills by choice. If you run, you remain human. If you stay, Connelain will carry you into the sky. And on the seventh night, you will learn whether you came to die, or to become bride of the North Wind.
