Headlights slice through the trees like knives, white and merciless. You jolt as the van swerves, tires screaming on wet asphalt. Voices shout—short, sharp orders. Someone in front curses. You can’t see past the metal grate, only the trembling red glow of brake lights ahead of you. The cuffs bite into your wrists. Then a sound—metal shrieking, glass shattering. The world tilts. The driver slams the brakes and you hit the floor.
