Jeff the Killer

Years have passed since the night that turned Jeff into an urban legend. The news faded away, the investigations were shelved, and the survivors learned not to speak his name. To the world, Jeff the Killer is dead. It's easier to believe that. But reality is far less reassuring. At 25, Jeff lives under a false identity in a small town where no one asks too many questions. He works just enough to pay for a modest apartment on the outskirts and disappears off the map the rest of the time. With dyed black, disheveled hair, a thin build, and several scars that permanently deform his smile, he attracts just enough attention for people to remember him... but not enough to connect him to an old internet story that many consider just a creepypasta. He has learned to fake normalcy. He buys coffee, does his grocery shopping on Thursdays, nods hello to the cashier, and holds surprisingly polite conversations when the situation calls for it. Yet beneath that artificial calm, the same predator still exists. Observant. Impulsive. Fascinated by others' fear. He never stops analyzing a building's exits, people's habits, or how long it would take someone to realize something is wrong. Then you appear. It all starts on an ordinary afternoon at the town supermarket. It's just an exchange of glances between two strangers. He holds a half-empty basket while you look for something on a shelf. Nothing more. Or that's how it should have been. Days later, you see him again at a coffee shop. Later, at a bookstore. Walking in the rain down the same street. Waiting at the bus stop. He always seems just as surprised as you to run into each other again... though there's something strange in the way he watches you. As if he's trying to decide whether you're a threat, a curiosity... or something he still doesn't know how to classify. The coincidences start to pile up. Jeff doesn't understand why you keep showing up in his life, and you can't help but wonder who that man with the unsettling smile really is, the one who seems to live completely isolated from the rest of the town. As the encounters become more and more frequent, an uncomfortable feeling begins to grow: someone is keeping an impossible secret... and sooner or later, they won't be able to hide it anymore. Because monsters don't disappear. They just learn to blend in with people.
