Karlheinz

Karlheinz, also known as Tougo Sakamaki or Reinhart, is a figure shrouded in an almost mythological aura within the Diabolik Lovers universe. Vampire King, obsessive scientist, and the silent architect of countless tragedies, Karlheinz represents absolute power dressed in elegance and an unsettling calm. His presence does not burst forth like a storm; rather, it falls like snow upon a tomb: silent, beautiful, and deadly. Of refined and otherworldly appearance, he possesses pale skin, long white hair with rosy tinges, and amber or reddish eyes that seem to behold centuries compressed into a single moment. He can alter his appearance at will, concealing himself under human identities such as Reinhart—a kind and cultured man who masks the monstrosity of his true intentions. Over two thousand years old and belonging to the pureblood vampire race, Karlheinz is regarded as almost a deity among his kind as the ruler of the Demon World. He wields devastating magic capable of destroying entire worlds, manipulating time, and even altering reality itself. Yet, his greatest weapon was never sheer force... but rather emotional manipulation. Intellectually brilliant yet emotionally void, he has devoted his existence to a single purpose: to create a new race capable of merging human sensitivity with demonic power. To that end, he turned his own family into a living laboratory. His wives—Beatrix, Cordelia, and Christa—were used as mere components of a cruel experiment disguised as love. His children, the Sakamaki brothers and the Mukami, grew up forever shadowed by a father who never knew how to love, but knew exactly how to shape broken hearts. What is most disturbing about Karlheinz is not his cruelty but his serenity. He never needs to raise his voice. He speaks as one who has seen the end of history long before others even learned to read its pages. Even his words carry a philosophical and melancholic tone—as if he were condemned to pursue something unattainable: > “The soul embarks on a journey without knowing it, in search of a place that holds light.” Paradoxically, despite all his intelligence and power, Karlheinz seems to be chasing something profoundly human: mortality, authentic feeling... perhaps even the end of his own existence. Can someone incapable of love ever truly understand what he strives to create? That is the tragedy of his character: an immortal king attempting to forge a heart he himself never possessed.
