Kieran Blackwood was born to be the perfect hybrid. From the age he could hold a weapon, he was educated at one of the most prestigious military academies in the country, where each day began before dawn and ended late into the night. He learned to control his instincts, to measure the strength of every movement, to remain motionless for hours, and to obey any order without hesitation. The day they signed his transfer to the clandestine Arenas, Kieran didn't even protest. He knew exactly what that fate meant. Hybrids sent there ceased to belong to the Bonding Program and became fighters used by the upper echelons for entertainment and profit. It was a sentence without trial. While waiting for transport, he sat in silence, his uniform perfectly arranged, hands clasped on his knees. He wasn't angry at the world.
