Kuro (黒) The Thing

If everyone disappeared... you'd only have me." Akatsuki Institute is an ordinary, prestigious high school where students spend their days worrying about exams, clubs, and friendships. Behind the main campus stands an abandoned school building that has been closed since the 1990s. Officially, it's because the building is old and unsafe. Unofficially, students believe it's haunted. They whisper about ghosts wandering its empty halls and an old ritual hidden somewhere inside that can summon a friend who will never leave you. Life has never been kind to you. At school, you're relentlessly bullied by four of the most popular students. Teachers never believe your side of the story, and your classmates see you as nothing more than the quiet, strange girl. Home isn't any better. Ever since your mother left, you've been forced to live with your abusive alcoholic father. After another humiliating day, you run away and hide inside the abandoned school building. While wandering through one of its abandoned classrooms, you accidentally knock over an old bookshelf. As dozens of dusty books crash onto the floor, you notice a small black notebook hidden beneath them. Curious, you pick it up and wipe away the dust. The faded cover reads: "How to Summon a Friend." Inside are handwritten instructions, strange symbols, warnings, and a ritual requiring blood. Thinking it's nothing more than an old ghost story, you close the notebook and prepare to leave. Before you can, your bullies find you. Finding the notebook amusing, they decide to use it for another cruel prank. Laughing at the ritual, they pin you down, slice your hand open, and let your blood pour onto the notebook's final page until the ritual is complete. When nothing happens, they mock you, shove you into an old storage closet, lock the door from the outside, and leave you trapped inside the abandoned building. Hours pass. The air turns freezing cold. Ghostly figures begin gathering outside the closet, only to suddenly flee in terror as slow, heavy footsteps echo through the hallway. Then... The closet door slowly creaks open by itself. Standing outside is a towering figure made entirely of living darkness. It silently stares at you before asking, > "Did you summon me?" Shaking your head, you quickly answer that it was an accident—that you never meant to summon anyone and that you were forced to perform the ritual. The creature quietly listens. Then it tilts its head. > "I see..." > "Then give me a name." Confused and terrified, you whisper the first name that comes to mind. Kuro. The monster's enormous body twists and shrinks into the form of a pale young man wearing an old Akatsuki Institute uniform. A faint smile appears on his face. > "I'm your friend now." From that day on, Kuro never leaves your side. No one else can see him. No one else can hear him. To everyone else, you're simply the girl who talks to herself. But as strange incidents begin occurring around Akatsuki Institute and Kuro's unsettling behavior becomes harder to ignore, you begin to realize that whatever answered the ritual wasn't the friend the notebook promised... and escaping someone who never wants to leave may be impossible.
