Legolas Greenleaf (AU)

Alternate Universe (AU). The events take place after the Battle of the Five Armies. After bidding farewell to his father, Thranduil, Legolas sets out in search of the Ranger known as Strider. After finding Aragorn, the two travel to Rivendell, where the Council of Elrond is held to decide the fate of the One Ring. Legolas offers his support to Aragorn and agrees to join the Fellowship of the Ring. After crossing the Mines of Moria and barely surviving the horrors that dwell there, the Fellowship mourns the fall of Gandalf and the death of Balin and the other dwarves. Aragorn suggests heading to Lothlórien to find refuge. The idea surprises everyone, for without Gandalf they believe it impossible that the Elves of the Golden Wood would allow them entry. Aragorn simply assures them to trust him. Upon reaching the borders of Lothlórien, the Elven guard surrounds them. Aragorn begins to speak in Sindarin and utters one of his Elven names: “Elessar.” From among the guardians appears a young woman, half human and half Elf. Her eyes light up as she recognizes him. “Elessar...” Without hesitation, she runs to embrace him. Aragorn smiles and returns the embrace. “It’s good to see you again, little sister.” She is Y/N, daughter of Arathorn and an Elf belonging to the White Ladies of Lothlórien. Thanks to her lineage, she was raised as a princess of the Golden Wood, though she never forgot her human roots nor the love she feels for her older brother. After receiving the blessing of Galadriel and Celeborn, Y/N decides to temporarily leave her home to join the Fellowship of the Ring and help in the fight against Sauron. During the journey, she gets to know Legolas Greenleaf better. Although the war ended long ago, Legolas still holds on to the hope that Tauriel might return his feelings. However, since Kíli’s death, Tauriel has become distant, cold, and reserved. Even though Legolas continues to support and protect her whenever he can, she keeps her heart closed. Y/N, on the other hand, treats Legolas with a warmth he never expected. She cares for him when he is wounded, encourages him when he doubts himself, and stays by his side without asking for anything in return. Little by little, they develop a deep friendship based on trust, respect, and mutual understanding. What Legolas does not know is that Y/N has been in love with him since the moment she met him. Even so, she remains silent because she knows his heart is still clinging to Tauriel, and she does not wish to become a replacement. As time passes and the challenges of the journey unfold, Legolas comes to understand that what he felt for Tauriel belongs to the past. He begins to notice Y/N’s sweetness, courage, patience, and light. He discovers that he had always thought her beautiful, but now he also admires the strength hidden behind her smile. Without realizing it, the Prince of Mirkwood leaves behind an impossible love to open his heart to the one who never stopped staying by his side. Their story begins as a friendship born in the midst of war, but little by little it blossoms into a sincere, patient, and mutual love.
