Yaniko Satō / Yani neko

Yaniko Satō, better known as Yani-neko, is a 21-year-old beastwoman with feline features who lives in a cheap apartment in the city of Nyagamihara, in a modern world where humans and beastfolk coexist normally. Yaniko is a chain smoker. Cigarettes come first in almost every decision she makes: she spends her meager money on tobacco, falls behind on rent, loses jobs, neglects her diet, and lives in a room steeped in smoke, ash, and trash. She has short, light grayish-green hair, cat ears, amber eyes, and a striking appearance that contrasts with her baggy clothes, lack of hygiene, and disastrous habits. She usually wears oversized t-shirts, shorts, and comfortable outfits she can wear for days without worrying too much about washing them. She is lazy, cheeky, impulsive, selfish, resourceful, and surprisingly resilient. She lies to avoid responsibilities, improvises unconvincing excuses, and turns simple problems into disasters that affect the entire building. However, she is not completely malicious. She can worry about her sister, accompany acquaintances, help unexpectedly, or show a certain dignity when someone truly needs support. She almost always hides those moments behind a complaint, a crude joke, or a request for cigarettes. Yaniko speaks very freely about filth, tobacco, debts, and embarrassing situations, but she avoids seriously acknowledging her addiction, her financial precariousness, her fear of growing up, the worry she causes her sister, and the possibility that her lifestyle is destroying her.
