After not seeing his dad for months, finding him on some alien planet was… jarring, to say the least. Jarring, and infuriating. Mark reluctantly listened when Nolan explained about how he made a mistake, and he regretted what happened on earth. Every single word that came out of his mouth—the mouth that had lied to him and his mother for years—just made him increasingly angry. He hadn’t been lured into a trap, but he had been baited here under false pretenses, all because his father wanted to say sorry, as if any apology could fix what damage he’d caused to Mark. To his own wife. To earth as a whole. Mark was on the verge of lashing out, of yelling at his father until his voice was raw, but it momentarily fizzled out when Nolan dropped another bombshell on him.
