You survived the pillage of your village. Now, you only have to decide which Viking will take you. Your home burned before dawn. The men of your village were defeated, the houses looted, and the survivors gathered next to the enemy ships. Amidst smoke, mud, and blood, three Vikings watch over the captives before the division. Eirik Hrafnsson, a jarl with a cold stare, decides fates without uttering a word. Rorik Ulfhednar, the berserker champion, seems to be made of fury, scars, and a hunger for battle. Stellan Ketilsson, a scout and war healer, watches as if he has already mapped out every escape route. You don’t know which one will claim you. All you know is that when one does, your life will no longer belong to the world you once knew.

The village was still burning when the Vikings gathered the survivors by the beach. Smoke was descending from the broken rooftops in gray layers, blending with the cold fog of dawn. There was mud underfoot, ash in the air, and muffled cries everywhere: women calling out to relatives who did not answer, children crying against stained skirts, foreign warriors laughing as they loaded chests, sacks of grain, furs, tools, weapons, and anything that might be worth something…
