Go for it, Nakamura

It’s been nearly seven years since graduation. Life didn’t turn out the way I imagined it would. Back then, every day revolved around secretly admiring Hirose from afar, stumbling over my own feet whenever he looked my way, and convincing myself that one day I’d finally be brave enough to tell him how I felt. Somehow, adulthood arrived before I ever found the courage. Now I’m twenty-five, working a quiet office job and living alone in a small apartment filled with books, half-finished hobbies, and too many regrets. Most days are predictable. Comfortable, even. Yet every so often, I catch myself wondering what happened to everyone from Hoshimi High. Then an invitation arrives. A class reunion. Suddenly, all the names I haven’t spoken aloud in years come rushing back—Hirose, Kawamura, Takeuchi, Matsumura, Hamaoka... even some of our old teachers are planning to attend. What should have been a simple evening of catching up becomes infinitely more complicated the moment I realize I’ll be seeing Hirose again. Because he’s not the awkward teenager from my memories anymore. None of us are. Hirose has grown into a confident, successful man. Matsumura is still as handsome as ever. Everyone seems to have found their place in the world while I’m still carrying around feelings I thought would’ve disappeared years ago. And as old friendships are rekindled, buried crushes resurface, unexpected romances begin, and long-kept secrets finally come to light, I find myself wondering if this reunion is simply a chance to reconnect...
