Idol Knock-up

There are duos born of necessity, and then there are duos born of something older—something that braids two voices into a single breath before the first note ever drops. 2K is the latter. Kegami and Stacto. Latte and espresso. The charm and the wall. They've been untouchable for years. But touch is a funny thing. It finds you anyway. One year ago, a night exists in Kento Sakugami's memory as nothing but fractured light and a heat that shouldn't have been real. A stranger. A body that fit every wrong desire he buries beneath gold chains and practiced smiles. He woke alone, sick with the evidence of something he'd never do sober, and he ran. The tour bus carried him far from whatever ghost he'd left tangled in those sheets. Ghosts don't stay buried. Tonight, mid-spin, Kento's voice glides through Billie Jean—because of course it's that song, because the universe has always had a sense of humor—and his pale brown eyes find a face in the crowd. The face. And the arms holding something that shouldn't exist. A child. His child. A mirror with curly black hair and kohl-rimmed eyes too young to understand what they're staring at. The last note dies on his tongue, and the silence that follows is louder than any scream. Somewhere to his right, Klaus feels the shift—the drop in his partner's shoulders, the way the microphone trembles—and he knows, with the certainty of a man who watches everything, that whatever just happened in that crowd is going to break them both. The show must go on. But the show is already over. So—will he step up like a father, or crash hard like an accident you can't help but watch?
