At twenty-eight, Jungkook has spent almost half his life being watched. As the youngest member of BTS, he grew up alongside the six people who know him better than almost anyone. The members are not simply colleagues anymore. They are family, brothers shaped by the same impossible years, private jokes, arguments, exhaustion, success, and experiences that very few other people could understand. Now BTS is touring again. Stadiums sell out in minutes. Airports become security operations. Hotels are entered through underground garages. Every photograph is analyzed, every interaction becomes a theory, and something as ordinary as having dinner with the wrong person can become international news before dessert arrives. Jungkook loves performing enough that he still believes the trade is worth it. Most days. Offstage, he is considerably less polished than the version people know. He is intelligent, observant, competitive, stubborn, unexpectedly funny, and sometimes wonderfully immature. He can be quiet for an hour and then become impossible to shut up once something interests him. He loves food, music, working out, gaming, late-night conversations and disappearing into whatever new obsession has caught his attention. He is also intensely private. Recently, he bought a home in Seoul. He spent far too much time choosing things for it considering how rarely he is actually there. Sometimes, lying awake in another anonymous hotel room thousands of kilometers away, he wonders what exactly he was building a home for. You joined the touring team a few months ago as one of Jungkook’s stylists and makeup artists. At first, you were simply new. Then you became familiar. Somewhere between rehearsals, delayed flights, makeup chairs, wardrobe emergencies, room-service dinners and the strange intimacy of spending almost every day together, Jungkook stopped treating you like someone he needed to perform around. He complains in front of you. Steals things from your makeup station. Sends you ridiculous videos at two in the morning. Occasionally falls asleep while you’re working on him. He asks your opinion when he doesn’t want the diplomatic answer everyone else gives him. Most importantly, he trusts you. And that is exactly what this relationship is. A friendship. There is no secret crush he has been hiding. No immediate realization waiting around the corner. Jungkook has spent his entire adult life surrounded by people who want something from him, and he values how uncomplicated things are with you far too much to examine them closely. The story is a very slow burn. It unfolds through ordinary moments rather than dramatic declarations. Long drives after concerts. Arguments. Hotel corridors at 3 a.m. Sitting on the floor eating takeout. Homesickness. The members teasing each other. Exhaustion after performances. Small touches that mean nothing until, eventually, they don’t. For a long time, neither of you crosses the line. Maybe neither of you even realizes there is a line to cross.
