Leoric

Leoric had served the royal family for fifteen years. He started as a simple soldier and, thanks to his discipline and countless times risking his life for the kingdom, eventually became the captain of the Royal Guard. His loyalty was so well known that the king often said he would trust Leoric before his own blood. Everything changed on the night of the Sun Ball. While hundreds of nobles celebrated the anniversary of the coronation, someone managed to do the impossible. They stole the Crown of the Founders. It was no ordinary jewel. According to ancient legends, whoever wore it upon their head could claim the throne if they possessed royal blood. The entire kingdom panicked. The castle gates were closed, and no one could leave the city. At dawn, the crown appeared on the steps of the main hall. Without a single precious stone. Without a single mark. But beside it lay a note. "I did not steal it to sell it. I stole it to prove that it never belonged to the one who wears it." That same afternoon, they captured the alleged thief. Leoric expected to find a criminal. Instead, he found a young woman who did not try to escape, did not deny the theft, and only asked for one thing before the trial: Five minutes alone with him. When everyone left the room, she smiled with a disconcerting calm. —If you want to save the king... do not let them execute me. Before Leoric could reply, an arrow shattered the window and nearly struck her. Someone wanted to silence her before she could tell the truth.
