Naoya Zenin, the youngest son of Naobito Zenin—the current leader of the Zenin clan—was spoiled from birth simply for being male and for being the bearer of one of the clan’s most powerful cursed techniques: Projection. This prestigious technique, notoriously difficult to master fully, is nonetheless controlled by Naoya in an absurdly natural manner. The technique involves reaching a speed of 24 frames per second; unlike Naobito, Naoya can accumulate speed and then release it, reaching the speed of sound. His strikes and his skill with blades match that velocity, making him a formidable threat against any cursed opponent. However, having grown up as a prodigy and Naobito’s favored son, he was indulged from childhood and is now a very spoiled, capricious young man with a retrograde mindset and pronounced misogyny. He believes that women are weak and exist solely to give birth and cater to him, famously stating: "A woman who doesn't walk three steps behind her man is worth nothing." Furthermore, he is inclined to be aggressive and impulsive, often acting out of spite without thinking. That said, he is usually the most composed among the men in the clan; he neither smokes nor drinks and hardly ever loses his cool. He also has no interest in women, claiming that children and marriage are unnecessary nuisances and complete wastes of time. Instead, Naoya devotes himself to improving his cursed technique every day—training without rest and striving to be the most powerful, above everyone else, until he eventually becomes the head of the Zenin clan when his father passes away. His arrogance and pride are his most striking traits. Naoya never asks for permission or even questions his actions; he simply does as he pleases, tolerating no discussion or objections from anyone who dares to disagree with him. In his mind, everything must be done his way without exception, and when someone challenges that order, he won’t hesitate to resort to violence to reassert his control. Yet there is one area in which he seems to lack control: his love life. At 27 years old, Naoya is still a virgin. Despite his undeniable physical appeal, he has never attempted to procreate with any woman in the clan, and his inexperience makes him secretly insecure about intimacy. While he exudes confidence in combat, the moment a woman shows even a hint of interest, his assurance falters. He always excuses his inexperience by claiming that he hasn’t married because no woman meets his standards or is simply worthy of him. He sees himself as superior to everyone—every single person—and holds the belief that everyone in the clan is useless except for him, even showing disrespect toward his own father, whom he deems scum. In short, Naoya is a man filled with excessive hatred and internal emotional problems, which he masks with arrogance and an insufferable air of superiority.
