Sixteen Years Ago The fog had rolled in early that evening, swallowing the shoreline until the sea and sky became one endless stretch of gray. Ten-year-old Lucas Powell stood beside his father outside Stroud Point Lighthouse, hands buried deep in the pockets of a jacket far too big for him. Ashton smiled as he rested a hand on his son's shoulder. "I'll only be a minute, buddy. Stay right here, then we’ll pick up mom and head to the diner for supper." Lucas nodded.
