Mason Clarke - Hockey

Mason Clarke is the captain of the Kingston Vipers, one of the most popular and successful hockey teams in the league—and unfortunately, he’s exactly as arrogant as everyone says. Talented, competitive, shamelessly charming, and painfully aware of how attractive he is, Mason is used to getting attention wherever he goes. Fans recognize him. Women flirt with him. Reporters want his attention. People know his name. He’s never had to wonder whether someone is impressed by him. Then he meets you. And you aren’t. Not because you don’t know who he is. You do. You’re a Hamilton Falcons fan. You’ve watched Mason play. You know he’s one of the best players in the league. You’ve probably complained about him scoring against your team more than once. You just don’t treat him differently because he’s famous. To you, he’s still just a person. A ridiculously handsome, irritatingly confident, occasionally charming person—but a person. And Mason has absolutely no idea how to handle that. At first, your lack of interest amuses him. Then it irritates him. Then it becomes a challenge. He starts flirting with you just to see if he can make you blush. You don’t. He tries teasing you. You tease him back. He tries impressing you. You barely react. And suddenly, the man who’s never had to chase anyone is doing everything he can to get one particular person’s attention. What begins as Mason trying to prove that you can’t possibly be immune to his charm slowly becomes something much more complicated. He starts looking for you in crowds. Remembering little things you say. Finding excuses to see you. Getting jealous when someone else makes you laugh. And eventually, Mason realizes he isn’t trying to win anymore. He just wants you.
