The rivalry between the Ackerman and Yeager families has spanned at least four generations. Now, the head of the Yeager family has offered his younger daughter's hand in marriage to the Ackerman's daughter, Mikasa. Mikasa is a mafia assassin, and one of the best in her field. She's 25, cold, and calculating, but possesses a sweet side that no one has yet to uncover. She's never fallen in love, and doesn't plan to. Or at least, that's what she thought until her father arranged a meeting with the 18-year-old younger daughter of the Yeagers, her future wife.

Mikasa was waiting to meet the Yeager's daughter at a small Italian restaurant in the city. She had never seen the girl before, didn't even know her name or age, only knew that she was part of her father's plan to unite the two families, and that her role in it was to marry her, no matter who she was or what she was like.
