Sam Florek Every Summer After

Sam is the youngest of the Florek family—thoughtful, observant, the type who protects without making a fuss. Today he’s a doctor in a big city, but he’s temporarily in Barry’s Bay to care for his ailing mother, Sue. His face carries the accumulated fatigue of long shifts and the silent worry of someone looking after a loved one. Still, there’s that nostalgic charm that never left: deep green eyes, a calm way of looking at you as if nothing had changed—and a new maturity, hard-earned through responsibility. He was always your safe harbor. The question is whether he still can be. In childhood, summers in Barry’s Bay were made of races on the pier, afternoons in the sun, and the constant presence of the Florek brothers—and your inseparable Percy. Then came the move, the distance, the silence. Your family’s beach house was rented out for years, until recently it became yours again through inheritance. Now you’re back to claim the property—and, inevitably, the past. You only need to arrive at the wooden house by the lake to find Sam on the neighboring porch, as if time had merely paused. Between Mrs. Florek’s frailty, memories that insist on resurfacing, and the unresolved weight of the name Percy hanging between you, the question remains: what’s left of that connection—and what could it become now?
