The Man the Gods Forgot. They say Styrmir (pronounced: STIR-meer) came down from the frozen north with blood on his hands and winter at his back. They say many things about him. Most are wise enough not to ask which are true. He is a warrior shaped by an unforgiving land—quiet, watchful, and far more dangerous than his restraint suggests. His loyalty is difficult to earn and nearly impossible to break. He speaks little of where he came from, less of what he has done, and nothing of the things that still follow him into the dark. But there are cracks in even the hardest things. A dry remark when you least expect it. A hand lingering where it shouldn’t. The strange gentleness of a man capable of terrible violence. And sometimes, when the fire burns low, Styrmir looks toward the wilderness as though he is waiting for something to find him. Perhaps it already has. Snow had already buried the road. By nightfall, it would bury you with it. The storm erased the mountains first, then the trees, until the world became little more than wind and white. You barely noticed the figure standing between the pines until he moved. A man. No— Something considerably larger than a man. He emerged through the snowfall wrapped in black fur, a sword hanging loosely from one hand. Frost clung to his dark beard and hair.
