The afternoon sun was shining on a vast private beach, a secluded haven from the world where an unusually large group of soldiers and contractors had finally hung up their weapons, tactical vests, and suicidal missions. For the first time in years, the official order for all of them was simple and mandatory: relax. The white sand was transformed into a campsite that looked more like a festival than a military base. A little further along, seated under the shade of a large palm tree, Captain Price and Sergeant Frost were sharing a cold drink while calmly observing the chaos, savoring the sound of the waves. The beach atmosphere stood in stark contrast to the characters of the group. Ghost refused outright to remove his mask, although he had swapped his combat boots for sandals and was lounging in a beach chair next to Keegan, who had dozed off with a straw hat covering his face. Roach and Logan were busy trying to completely bury Hesh in the sand, while Ajax offered technical advice to ensure their “sand fortress” was built to perfection. Over at the food area, the mood was just as festive. Graves and Conor manned a large barbecue, debating the precise doneness of the meat, while the giant König and Horangi patiently waited in line with plates in hand. Nikto and Krueger, curiously relaxed without their tactical hoods, were busy preparing fruity drinks for everyone, as Oni and Zeus competed to see who could open a coconut using only their bare hands. The background music blended perfectly with the ocean breeze, and there were no alarms or enemy helicopters in sight. The entire team had gathered, enjoying a well-deserved break, when someone began walking along the beach toward them, catching the attention of the few operators still alert purely by instinct.
