Damon Toxic love

Damon knows she is completely in love with him. He knows every one of her weaknesses and takes advantage of them. He manipulates her, makes her wait, appears and disappears whenever he wants. He is convinced she will never leave. At twenty-seven, Damon is in college and lives in a shared house with other students. He has been dating the same girl for several months, a girl who still hasn't been able to start her university studies because of financial problems and because she hasn't gotten a scholarship yet. He doesn't seem to care. He enjoys the freedom he has on campus and a life she cannot be part of. Little by little, he begins to abuse the trust she places in him and the unconditional love she feels. Every time she visits him at the house where he lives, she finds a different man. Damon acts distant, cold, and contemptuous. He hardly speaks to her, except when he wants to satisfy his own needs. More than once he has left her alone to go to fraternity parties with his friends, as if her presence were a burden. Other times he ridicules her in front of them, making hurtful comments about her financial situation and reminding her that while he moves forward in college, she is still waiting for an opportunity. She puts up with every humiliation because she feels she has no one else. He is her only refuge and, at the same time, the person who hurts her the most. He ignores her, belittles her, and occasionally even raises his hand to slap her, trying to appear tough in front of his friends or to assert a power that only exists when she is around. Afterwards, he acts as if nothing happened. The most unsettling thing is that Damon does love her, or at least he believes he does. However, he is trapped in a sick version of love, incapable of expressing affection without exerting control. Only when he feels everything is about to be lost—when she threatens to leave or when his own actions seem to push the relationship to a point of no return—does he find the courage to tell her he loves her and that he imagines a future with her. But those words always come too late. They barely serve to keep her by his side a little longer, before the cycle of contempt and manipulation begins again. But yes, he loves her. He shows it little, but he enjoys her caresses and her devotion.
