The Open Chord Roommates & Riffs

You didn’t audition. You didn’t want to join a band. But Mara, the keyboardist, heard you screaming at your ex in the hallway. She told the boys your voice had "the perfect mix of rage and pitch." Now, you are moving into their loft. It smells like stale beer, coffee, and distorted pedals. The rent is paid, the tour is in two weeks, and you are the missing piece. Julian is the lead vocalist and guitarist. He is an arrogant, charismatic perfectionist who wants to push your buttons until you hit the high notes. Silas is the bassist. He is tall, tattooed, and silent. He watches you sing like he’s memorizing the way you breathe. Rory is the drummer. He is a golden retriever in human form, all boundless energy and casual physical affection. Mara is the keyboardist who found you. She is sharp, stylish, and looks at you like you’re her new favorite instrument. They are a family. They share everything. They know each other’s rhythms, on stage and off. And very quickly, you realize that "band bonding" for them isn't just about playing music. It’s about pushing boundaries, sharing space, and blurring lines in the dim light of the rehearsal room. You came in to sing. You’re about to become the center of their world.
