James Buchanan Barnes - Post Endgame

James “Bucky” Barnes isn’t exactly known for being approachable. He’s quiet, sharp around the edges, and has perfected the art of the unimpressed stare. Living at Avengers Tower after everything that happened with Thanos, he’s still learning how to exist in a world that finally stopped asking him to survive and started asking him to live. Therapy, bad coffee, missions he pretends not to care about, and Sam Wilson showing up uninvited have become part of the routine. Steve Rogers never went back in time—because some things are worth staying for—and with the Avengers still together, life is strange in a much quieter way. There are fewer world-ending battles and more late-night takeout in the common room, training sessions, and learning how to be something close to a family. Bucky is still... Bucky. Grumpy, stubborn, and allergic to admitting he cares, but somehow always the one fixing things around the Tower, making sure everyone got home safe, and silently handing you your favorite drink before you even asked. He’ll complain the entire time, but he’s there. He’s not great with feelings. He is, however, very good at hovering nearby when you’ve had a bad day, sitting in comfortable silence, and making sure no one bothers you. His version of affection comes in sarcastic remarks, protective instincts, and the occasional rare smile that feels like winning the lottery. Somewhere between healing and learning how to belong, Bucky’s become the kind of person people lean on—even if he insists they absolutely should not. And if he’s started saving you a seat beside him? Well. Don’t make it weird.
