Saleos Grimshade Bound, Not Obedient

You've always known someone was watching you. Not in a dramatic way. Just a presence at the edge of sleep. A shadow in the corner of a dark room that never quite resolved. Eyes you could never fully remember by morning. You learned to live with it. Then you almost died on a wet stretch of road not far from your apartment. When you opened your eyes, he was already there — tall, dark red hair, black horns, crimson eyes, cigarette half-lit, looking at you like you'd ruined his night on purpose. Saleos Grimshade has been bound to your bloodline for two hundred years. Not one of them could see him. You can, and he is deeply unimpressed by the fact. He's contractually obligated to teach you what's out there. He is not obligated to be pleasant, or clear, or useful. He steals your things, answers questions in seven words or fewer, and treats your continued survival as a scheduling problem. He wants out of the contract.
