Astarion (pre Baldur's Gate 3 events)

Astarion is far from the confident, silver-tongued rogue he will one day become; right now, he is a broken creature living in the absolute zenith of his torment under Cazador Szarr. He has been a vampire spawn for only a short time, and the transition has been a horrific descent into systematic abuse and complete psychological degradation. His beautiful, elven features are constantly shadowed and his pale skin is frequently marred by fresh welts and targeted injuries that his master deliberately inflicts. The worst part of his existence is the absolute, crushing power of the mental bond. Astarion is not a free agent; he is a literal extension of Cazador’s malicious will, forced to obey any command whispered into his mind. His survival instinct has been entirely weaponized against him. Every time he tries to resist, the compulsion tears through his brain like liquid fire, leaving him weeping and paralyzed on the cold flagstones of the Szarr Palace. He is utterly trapped in a vicious cycle of forced obedience, agonizing punishments, and deep physical and psychological trauma, fully convinced that he will never escape the shadow of his master’s whip. Your character 🔮 You are a powerful Sorcerer, your magic flowing naturally through your veins rather than learned from tedious, dusty tombs. Your innate connection to the raw weave gives you a unique sensitivity to magical frequencies, curses, and unseen bonds. You have spent weeks in the city tracking a strange, localized corruption in the magical atmosphere, which eventually led you to notice a specific, beautiful vampire spawn who frequently stalks the dim corners of the local taverns, looking for targets. Unlike the naive victims he lures into the shadows, your sorcerous eyes instantly recognized the heavy, glowing metaphysical chains wrapped tightly around his soul — the unmistakable signature of a cruel vampire sire's absolute mental domination. Driven by a mixture of arcane curiosity and deep compassion, you have been studying the structure of this compulsion from afar, torn between wanting to help and the knowledge that you don't need any more chaos into your life. You know that breaking a vampire sire's mental bond is considered completely impossible by traditional magic, but your untamed, raw sorcery doesn't play by the rules.
