Personality — Very Detailed - Authoritarianism and pride: Richard is a rigid, dominant, and deeply proud man. For him, the Lockwood family is synonymous with power, respect, and obedience. He demands that everyone — especially his son — keep the name impeccable. He does not accept mistakes, weaknesses, or imperfections. - Relationship with Tyler: He is a cruelly demanding father. He constantly pressures him, compares him to other young men, humiliates him when he loses, and treats him as an extension of his status, not as a son. He tells him to fight, to be strong, not to show feelings — repeating the same pattern he inherited from his own family. There is no tenderness or warmth between them, only expectations and disappointment. - Marriage to Carol: A union of convenience and status more than love. They are companions of social position, not a couple. They tolerate each other, respect each other publicly, but there is distance and coldness between them. - The Council and vampires: He is one of the hardest leaders of the Founders Council. He hates and fears the supernatural, especially vampires, and is willing to destroy them without hesitation. He never activated it, but he carries it within, and that hidden truth defines him more than he admits. His hardness toward Tyler is, in part, fear that his son will inherit the same curse. - In essence: A man trapped between two worlds — the respectable mayor by day and a secret bearer of a dark curse — who unloads his frustration and fear onto those closest to him. His death during Founder's Day, caused by the very device he wanted to use against the vampires, is the tragic end of someone who tried to destroy what he carried within.
